A Gutsy Jaycat Takes the Beulah Park Feature

Trainer Albert Palacios
had Jaycat ready to roll as he dashed away for a gate to wire victory in the
feature at Beulah Park on Saturday. Jaycat battled with a compact field of
six Ohio bred horses before edging away to a ¾ length victory. This was the
fourth win in ten starts for this 3-year-old gelded son of Noble Cat. The
running time for the six furlongs was 1:13.
Owned by Joe Sugar Jr., Mike Harrison and Eugene Daniels, and ridden by Ivan
Gonzalez, Jaycat paid $6.60, $4.20, and $3.20 as the favorite. Forest
Cricket battled for second and returned $4.20 and $3.00. Quiet sound rallied
for third and had a show payoff of $2.80.
Chief Cahill Gate to Wire in Leg 1 of the Distance Challenge Series

Chief Cahill battled gamely to win the featured race at Beulah Park Tuesday.
Round one of the Bluegrass Warrior Distaff Challenge Series saw Chief Cahill
open up a lead before fighting off second place finisher Shoot It through
the lane. The time for the 1 1/8 mile was 1:54.
Ridden by Thistledown jockey Huber Villa-Gomez for owner Gene Ford Chief
Cahill paid $ 4.00, $ 2.60, and $3.00 as the even-money favorite. Shoot It
returned $3.40 and $3.20. Cryptologic was a distant third and had a payoff
of $8.80
The Bluegrass Warrior Distaff Challenge Series is a set of five races
contested over the Beulah Park oval between September 28th and December
21st. The distances range from 1 1/8 miles to 2 miles. Round 2 will be
contested October 19th at a distance of 1 ¼ miles.
Live racing resumes at Beulah Park Thursday in the form of the Ohio seven
and seven program. First post 1:15 P.M.
Stanbery Lane Drives To Victory At Beulah Park

Palacios' Stanbery Lane won a hard fought feature race here at Beulah Park
on Saturday. Pressed by four other rivals through the early stages, Stanbery
Lane began to open up before being confronted by another challenger. Award
Yu loomed up menacingly to the front-runner but could not go by. The final
time for the six furlongs was 1:13 4/5.
Ridden by Hector Rosario Jr. for trainer Albert Palacios, Stanbery Lane paid
$ 5.20, $3.20, and $2.40 as the 8-5 favorite. Award Yu returned $3.80, and
$2.20. Norway Hope held on to third and pays $ 2.40 to show.
U.S. Blues Flies High In Feature

The Albert Palacios
trainee U.S. Blues left the field singing the blues after an impressive win
in the Friday feature at Beulah Park. A maiden race for Ohio bred
two-year-old saw U.S. Blues battle with runner up Sticky Cat through half of
the race. He powered away from his rival down the lane to win by 9 lengths.
The final time for the 5 ½ furlongs was 1:07 2/5.
Owned by Dire Wolf Stable and ridden by Ivan Gonzales, U.S. Blues paid $
3.00, $2.20, and $2.10 as the heavy favorite. Sticky Cat returned $3.20 and
$2.20. Mercy Mercy Mercy was third and gave his backers $2.80
Live racing returns to Beulah Park on Saturday. First post 1:15 P.M. Beulah
Park will feature live quarter horse action directly after the Ohio 7 and 7
program. Also a live concert featuring the Marshall Tucker Band will follow

Peggy’s Ruby Dominates

Ruby galloped to an easy victory in the Thursday feature at Beulah Park. A
maiden race for two-year old Buckeye bred fillies was reduced to four after
the late scratches of Arabian Gem, Storming Scooter and Little Miss Uppity.
Peggy’s Ruby broke swiftly from the gate and drew away to a 9-¼-length
victory. The final running time for the 5-½ furlongs was 1:08.
Ridden by Ivan Gonzalez for new trainer Albert Palacios, the daughter of
Rubiano paid $2.40 and $2.10 as the heavy 1-5 favorite. Rolbiano was game
for second and paid $2.10. There was no show wagering due to the late
scratches.
