'Peaches' Ripe in March at Beulah Park

Belford Farm LLC’s French Peach stalked the quick early leaders before
assuming command and winning the Saturday feature. Seven allowance
fillies and mares battled as Rio Branco and In Charm’s Way contested
the lead. French Peach slowly began to improve her position and
gained command with 200 yards to run. Winning by a length French
Peach covered the 5 ½ furlongs over the fast track in 1:09.
Ridden by Edgar Paucar for trainer Steve Belford, French Peach paid
$8.60, $3.80 and $3.60. Slim Justice closed well for second and
returned $7.40 and $6.00. Rio Branco faded to third and had a show
payoff of $4.20.

Casey's Jet Remains Undefeated After Feature

Commonwealth Racing LLC and Joyce Tappan’s Casey’s Jet stalked the
speedy front-runners before dashing to the lead and powering away in
the Beulah Park feature. Six Ohio bred allowance runners battled as
Tommeyesgold and Ohio Society dueled for the early lead. At the top
of the lane Ohio Society faded out of contention and Casey’s Jet
darted to the lead. Winning by two lengths Casey’s Jet covered the
six furlongs over the fast track in 1:16 3/5.
Ridden by Francisco Vidal for trainer William Connelly, Casey’s Jet
paid $3.40, $2.40, $2.10 as the wagering favorite. Tommeyesgold dug
in gamely for second and returned $3.60 and $3.00. Momma’s Money
closed well for third and paid her backer $5.60

Loyal Deputy to the Rescue at Beulah Park

Owner-trainer Tamela Johnston’s Loyal Deputy closed strongly from the
back of the pack to win the Wednesday feature. Nine top-notch
claimers dueled as Dash of Fame and Sleuthing battled for the lead
with War Alliance tracking closely from third. Moving through the
lane Sleuthing began to fade as Loyal Deputy surged his way to the
lead with less than 70 yards to run. Winning by 3 ¼ lengths Loyal
Deputy covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:14 2/5.
Ridden by Yuri Yaranga, Loyal Deputy paid $18.00, $8.80 and $4.80.
Dash for Fame dug in gamely for second and returned $6.80 and $2.80.
War Alliance faded to third and returned his backers $5.00.

Series

Owner-trainer Ricky Faulkner’s By the Sword relaxed comfortably near
the rear of the field before swinging into action to take charge in
the Tuesday feature. Eleven classy claimers dueled as Spirit of
Woody, Cowboy’s Limelight and I’m Handsom all battled for the lead
in the 1 ½ mile marathon. Turning for home for the final time By the
Sword began to pick off the fading pacesetters and gain command with
100 yards to run to win by 5 lengths. The running time for the
distance over the fast track was 2:44 2/5.
The Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series is a set of six races for
claiming horses run during the Winter/Spring meet ranging from 1 1/8
miles to 2 ¼ miles. Leg 4 will be contested on Tuesday March 21st at
the distance of 1 ¾ miles.
Ridden by Paul Melancon, By the Sword paid $16.80, $7.60 and $4.40.
I’m Handsom fought gamely for second and returned $14.40 and $5.20.
Convexity stalked the pacesetters before fading to third and paid
his backers $3.00.

command to be victorious at Beulah Park. Eight Ohio-bred allowance
runners squared off as Ryno’s Wish and A Knew Beginning clashed for
the early lead. Turning for home Sea Grass charged his way to the
front and powered away impressively. Winning by 1 ½ length Sea Grass
covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:16 2/5.
Ridden by Edgar Paucar for trainer Steve Belford, Sea Grass returned
$4.60, $3.80 and $3.60 as the wagering favorite. Petey G closed well
for second and paid $7.80 and $5.60. Unwavering Flight stalked the
leaders to finish third and had a payoff of $7.00.
