Appygolucky the Best in Beulah Feature

Owner-trainer Charlie Lawson’s Appygolucky stalked quick early fractions before taking the short way home to victory on Saturday. Ten claimers dueled as One Way Out and Dr. E. Claire battled strongly for the early lead. Bidding his time near the middle of the pack, Appygolucky rallied along the inside rail and grabbed the lead with a furlong and a half to the finish. Drawing away to a 1 ¾ length win, Appygolucky covered the one mile over the fast track in 1:41 4/5.

Ridden by Edgar Paucar, Appygolucky paid $7.60, $3.80 and $3.20. Dr. E. Claire battled gamely for second and returned $3.60 and $3.00. He Rose Gain closed well for third and had a show payoff of $5.00.

Mississippi River Rolls to Feature Win

Owner-trainer Boyce Gooch’s Mississippi River settled just behind the frontrunners before edging past the race favorite in the final strides for the victory on Wednesday. Eight claimers clashed as Cuddlebrink assumed command with Lifes Crown pressing intently from second. Turning into the homestretch, Lifes Crown grabbed the lead and appeared to be drawing away until Mississippi River surged past him at the wire. Winning by a nose Mississippi River covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:11 1/5.

Ridden by Jose Calo, Mississippi River paid $16.20, $5.80 and $3.40. Lifes Crown dug in gamely for second and returned $3.20 and $2.40. Quiet Soul closed strongly for third and had a show payoff of $2.80.

Monday at Beulah Park. Captive Lady edged past Still Voice down the stretch for the win.

William Ryan’s Captive Lady settled just off of the early pace before dashing to the front to win at Beulah Park on Monday. Nine Ohio bred allowance runners squared off as Bright Spot and wagering favorite Still Voice battled for the lead. At the top of the lane Captive Lady swung into action and took control in the final 70 yards. Winning by 1 ½ lengths, Captive Lady covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:13 3/5.

Ridden by Hector Rosario, Jr. for trainer Ivan Vazquez, Captive Lady paid $6.80, $3.20 and $2.60. Still Voice dug in gamely for second and returned $2.60 and $2.10. Four Speed closed strongly for third and had a show payoff of $3.40.
