Parthenope Posts Upset Victory in Angenora Stakes

Owner/trainer Larry Eilers Parthenope took command from the start and shrugged off all challengers to win the $50,000 Angenora Stakes at Beulah Park on Saturday. Six Ohio bred fillies and mares squared off as Parthenope grabbed the lead with Royal Cup and Devilish Candy stalking in earnest from second and third. Moving into the lane Royal Cup moved up to challenge for the lead but was turned back in the final furlong. Winning by 1 ¾ lengths, Parthenope covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:11 3/5.

Ridden by Yuri Yaranga, Parthenope paid $11.20, $3.60 and $2.20. Just Michel closed well only to finish second and returned $2.40 and $2.10 as the wagering favorite. Royal Cup faded to third and returned her backers $2.20.

Beulah Park races three days a week Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Crypteeze Wins in a Breeze at Beulah Park

Foxwood Stable’s Crypteeze settled behind the blazing early fractions before dashing to the front to win the Wednesday feature. Seven allowance runners dueled as Court Approval sprinted to the front and ran the first quarter mile in a sparkling 21 4/5! Moving around the turn Crypteeze inched closer to the lead and took charge before the field reached the top of the homestretch. Drawing away to a 9 ½ length victory, Crypteeze covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:12 1/5.

Ridden by Hector Rosario, Jr. for trainer William D. Cowans, Crypteeze returned $6.00, $3.20 and $2.60. Bear Trick stalked the pace to finish second and paid $3.00 and $2.60. He’s My Slicker closed well for third and had a show payoff of 4.60.

Public Notice with Edgar Paucar up strides to a feature race win on Monday at Beulah Park.

Belford Farm LLC’s Public Notice dashed to the front and cleared off to victory at Beulah Park. Seven Ohio bred allowance runners dueled as Public Notice took the lead pressed by Captain Curt and Hopes Little Joe through the first half mile. Moving into the lane Public Notice hit another gear and drew off strongly in the final furlong. Winning by 11 ½ lengths Public Notice covered the five and one half furlongs over the fast track in 1:05 2/5.

Ridden by Edgar Paucar for trainer Steve Belford, Public Notice paid $2.20, $2.10 and $2.10. Effective Icarus closed well for second and returned $13.80 and 8.40. Hopes Little Joe faded to third and paid his backers $5.00.

Racing returns to Beulah Park on Wednesday with nine live races.
