Dooze Leaves Field Seeing Double
in Howard B. Noonan Stakes

Dooze glides to the finish well ahead of the field in the Howard B.
Noonan Stakes win Saturday.
Shazam Stables’ Dooze stalked the quick early pace before darting to the
front and pulling clear to a double-digit victory in the $50,000 Howard B.
Noonan on Saturday. Nine Ohio bred three-year-olds battled of heavy favorite
Out of View darted to the lead through a swift first quarter of a mile.
Moving into the turn Dooze pulled even with Out of View and dashed by in
dazzling fashion. Drawing away to a 13 ¾ win, Dooze covered the six furlongs
over the fast time in 1:10 1/5
Piloted by Luis Martinez, Jr. for trainer William D. Cowans, Dooze paid
$13.80, $6.60 and $3.00. Fisticuff closed strongly for second and returned
$11.60 and $3.60. Out of View faded to third and paid his backers $2.20.

Wirebender Wires Field in Beulah Feature

Wirebender with Christian Rojas up captured the eighth race Wednesday at Beulah
Park.
Laurie Hickman’s Wirebender grabbed the lead from the start and never looked
back in winning the Wednesday feature. Seven Ohio bred allowance/optional
claimers battled as Wirebender dashed to the lead with Here Comes Bragg
chasing from second. Turning for home Wirebender shrugged off the challenge
of Here Comes Bragg and cleared off to victory. Winning by four lengths,
Wirebender traveled the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:12 4/5.
Ridden by Christian Rojas for trainer Jeff Greenhill, Wirebender paid $7.20,
$4.20 and $3.40 as the wagering favorite. Geist Buster closed strongly for
second and returned $4.40 and $3.00. Here Comes Bragg faded to third and had
a payoff of $5.00.

Convexity Conquers All Opponents in Fifth Leg of Bluegrass Warrior
Distance Series

Edgar Paucar encourages Convexity (3) past an airborne Luger (2) to win
the Fifth Leg of the Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series Tuesday at Beulah
Park (see turn three photo below story).
Stephen Margolis’ Convexity impressed his new owner with a strong victory in
the Tuesday feature. Six top-class claimers clashed as Bevie’s Dare took the
early lead in the two mile marathon. Moving through the home stretch the
first time Luger dashed to the front with I’m Handsom pressing around the
turn and onto the back stretch. With four furlongs to run Convexity shot to
the flank of Luger and battled for the lead. Taking control in the final
furlong Convexity cleared off to a ½ length win. The running time for the
marathon over the fast track was 3:45 1/5.
The Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series is a set of six races for claiming
horses run during the Winter/Spring meet at Beulah Park. The sixth and final
leg will be ran on May 6 at the distance of 2 ¼ miles.

Owner-trainer C Steve Larue’s Satin Song stalked a quick early pace before
taking charge to win the Monday feature. Nine claiming fillies and mares
squared off as Watch Me Leave grabbed the lead with Princess Peak and Red
Leave Rose pressing from second and third. Moving through the lane Satin
Song dashed to the front and drew off to victory. Winning by 1 ½ lengths
Satin Song covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:13 2/5.
Ridden by Christian Rojas, Satin Song returned $17.00, $9.00 and $4.20.
Golden Appeal closed strongly for second and paid $12.40 and $4.60. Watch Me
Leave faded to third and had a show payoff of $2.80.
