Money Card Cashes in at Beulah Park

Drake Racing Stable’s Money Card pressed the early before taking charge to win the $50,000 Royal North Stakes at Beulah Park on Saturday. Ten Ohio bred fillies squared off as Lillians Choice took charge early with Money Card pressing from second. Moving through the stretch Money Card forged past the leader in the final furlong. Drawing off to an 8 ½ length victory, Money Card covered the six furlongs in 1:11 2/5.

Ridden by Jane Magrell for trainer Tim Girten, Money Card paid $18.20, $8.20 and $5.20. Devilish Candy chased the pace to finish second and returned $21.80 and $10.00. Lillians Choice faded to third and paid her backers $2.60 as the wagering favorite.

Dooze Gives Foes the Blues in Beulah Feature

Shazam Stables’ Dooze made his 2006 debut a winning one by striding away strongly to victory on Wednesday. Ten Ohio bred allowance runners dueled as Slewbiscuit and Ryno’s Wish clashed the early lead while Dooze chased the front runners from third. Moving through the home stretch Dooze dashed to the front and forged past Slewbiscuit. Winning by 7 ½ lengths Dooze covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:13.

Ridden by Luis Martinez, Jr. for trainer William D. Cowans, Dooze paid $9.20, $4.60 and $2.40. Slewbiscuit dug in for second and returned $6.00 and $3.20. Public Notice closed for third and paid his backers $2.10.

Hallshill Road Steals the Show at Beulah Park

Elmer and Helen Bauer’s Hallshill Road pressed the pace and took command down the lane to win the Tuesday feature. Eight classy allowance/optional claimers dueled as Judging Dreams dashed to the lead while Hallshill Road tracked intently from second. Moving into the lane Hallshill Road hugged the rail and splashed his way to victory. Winning by 1 ½ lengths Hallshill Road covered the six furlongs over the sloppy track in 1:12.

Ridden by Luis Martinez, Jr. for trainer Brian Waltz, Hallshill Road returned $10.00, $5.40 and $4.00. Locker closed well for second and paid $6.80 and $4.20 Geist Buster rallied mildly for third and returned his backers $2.80.

Honor Class Earns All A's at Beulah Park

Owner-trainer Ricky Faulkner’s Honor Class settled behind the frantic early pace before reeling in the leaders to win the Monday feature. Eight starter allowance runners battled as Parthenope took command with Crafty Wac chasing in second. Turning for home Honor Class began to close the gap and gained control in the final furlong. Winning by 4 ½ lengths Honor Class covered the one mile over the fast track in 1:44 4/5.

Ridden by Louis Stokes, Honor Class paid $20.00, $7.60 and $6.00. Sophette closed well for second and returned $3.40 and $2.40. Crafty Wac pressed the pace before fading to third and had a payoff of $3.00.
