Nobody Knows Via “DQ” In Beulah Feature
February 19, 2005

Owner-trainer Boyce K. Gooch’s Nobody Knows overcame a troubled trip the win the featured race at Beulah Park on Saturday. Eight claimers dueled as Sequel Cat and Rock Tavern squared off on the front end. Settling behind the embattled leaders, Nobody Knows slowly reeled in the front runners at the top of the lane. Sequel Cat drifted out in the lane but pulled away to win by ¾ of a length. After a Steward’s Inquiry and a jockey’s object Sequel Cat was disqualified from first and placed second for interfering with Nobody Knows. The running time for the 1 mile distance over the fast track was 1:45.

Ridden by Hector Rosario, Jr., Nobody Knows returned $30.80, $7.20 and $5.00. Sequel Cat paid $3.80 and $3.00 for his second place finish. Merryhadalilwolf rallied strongly for third and had a payoff of $7.20.

Charming John Sizzles In Beulah Park Feature

Owner-trainer Jimmy Dillion’s Charming John scored his second consecutive win over the Beulah Park oval by storming to victory in the featured on Friday. Six top-class claimers clashed as Rollin Me Out, Rose Wars and Conte Amour dueled for the early lead. Settling off of the strong early pace, Charming John wheeled around the field at the top of the lane and drew away to a 6-length victory. The running time for the five and one half furlongs over the fast track was 1:07 1/5.

Ridden by Luis Martinez, Jr., Charming John paid $5.40, $4.20 and $2.60. Closing strongly for second was J.R.’s Town who returned $11.00 and $6.60. Indy Energy finished third and paid his backers $3.00.

Ole Don Cruises to Victory in Beulah Park Feature

Matthew Holaday’s Ole Don sprinted to the front and cleared away comfortably to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Wednesday. Five starter allowance runners dueled as Ole Don darted away in the early stages and never looked back, drawing away to a 2-1/2-length win. The running time for the six furlongs over the sloppy track was 1:14.

Ridden by Luis Martinez, Jr. for trainer by Jerry Hollendorfer, Ole Don returned $4.00, $2.80 and $2.10. Eisenhower faded back to second and paid $5.40 and $2.80. Dr. E. Claire closed well for third and had a payoff of $2.40.

War Special Impressive In Beulah Park Feature

Larry A. Byer’s War Special took control early and held off late-charging Patti’s Clown in the final 70 yards to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Tuesday. Seven allowance runners battled as War Special sprinted to the front and turned back the challenge of heavy favorite Patti’s Clown at the finish line to win by a head. The running time for the five and one half furlongs was 1:08 2/5 over the sloppy going.

Ridden by Christian Rojas for trainer Bob Jeanotte, War Special returned $10.80, $4.80 and $2.10. Patti’s Clown closed strongly for second and paid $3.40 and $2.10. Red Hot Helen finished third and paid her backers $2.10.

‘Michel’ Captivating In Cupid’s Arrow Victory: Convexity Wins Leg Two Of Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series
February 14, 2005

M.Y. Stables, Inc.’s Just Michel stormed past heavy favorite Mercer’s Launch at the top of the lane and drew away to an impressive victory in the $13,400 Cupid’s Arrow at Beulah Park. Seven allowance runners squared off as Mercer’s Launch propelled herself to a big early lead. Unhurried in the early going, Just Michel blew by the leader and drew away to a 6-¾-length victory. This marked the third win in four starts over the Beulah oval for the 5-year-old daughter of Pacific Waves out of the multiple stakes winning mare Sister Milly. The running time for the six furlongs over the sloppy track was 1:13 4/5.

Ridden by Beulah Park’s leading jockey Edgar Paucar for trainer Mike Nance, Just Michel returned $7.20, $2.60 and $2.20. Mercer’s Launch faded to second and paid $2.20 and $2.20. Kristans Afleet finished third and had a show payoff of $2.40.

In other racing news Convexity rallied strongly to out gain Scout Me in the final strides to win Leg 2 of the Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series. Piloted by Edgar Paucar for owner-trainer Charles Lawson, Convexity covered the 1-¼-miles in 2:12 3/5. Leg 3 of the Bluegrass Warrior Distance series will be contested on March 1, 2005 at the distance of 1-½-miles.

Beulah Park races five days a week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. First post time is set for 1:15 p.m.
