Cinderella March Dancer Scores Maiden Victory In Howard B. Noonan Stakes
March 26, 2005

Hilltop Farm’s March Dancer seized command of the lead in the early stages and drew off impressively to win the $40,000 Howard B. Noonan Stakes at Beulah Park on Saturday. Eleven 3-year-old Ohio-bred horses battled as March Dance dueled with Yankee Road and Yulans Gold through the opening furlongs. Turning for home March Dance sprinted clear of his rivals and powered away to a 9-length victory. The running time for the six furlongs over the muddy track was an impressive 1:10 4/5.

Jockey Scott Speith says, “ He was a little rattled because of all the commotion behind the gate (as Dontshootthemsngr was reluctant to load). Once we broke he settled down. He is deceptively quick and we had a pretty smooth trip. He is a very nice colt that runs like an old pro” This marked the second victory on the Saturday Beulah Park Card for Speith.

Trained by William Connelly, March Dancer paid $8.40, $4.80 and $5.60 for his first career victory from three starts. Dontshootthemsngr stalked the leaders and closed well for second to return $7.60 and $5.60. Hurricane Rib closed strongly for third and had a payoff of $7.00.
