'Roses' Bloom in Best of Ohio Endurance
October 1, 2005

Larry Lehmann Stables LLC and Blazing Meadows Farm LLC’s Ready for Roses stamped himself as one of the best in Ohio with a rousing victory in the $75,000 Best of Ohio Endurance at Beulah Park on Saturday. Eleven Ohio bred runners clashed as Go Johnny Go assumed the lead pressed in earnest by Forest Picnic and Bernard’s Candy down the backstretch. Turning for home Go Johnny Go continued to lead until Ready for Roses uncorked his rally and collared the leader with 30 yards to run. Winning by a neck Ready for Roses covered the 1 ¼ Miles in 2:01 4/5.

Ridden by Irwin Rosendo for trainer Tim Hamm, Ready for Roses paid $4.00, $2.80 and $2.40. Go Johnny Go held gamely to second and returned $12.60 and $4.80. Count On My Word closed well for third and returned his backers $4.20.

Whitewater Way ($24.60) captured her second straight $50,000 Best of Ohio Distaff win in a heated stretch duel with Barnsy and Golden Tour. Formerly trained by the late Albert Palacios, Whitewater Way and jockey Luis Martinez, Jr. covered the 1 1/8 Miles in 1:53.

Ben’s Reflection ($4.00) and rider Jeff Johnston cruised to there second $50,000 Best of Ohio sprint title with a stirring performance. Stalking the fast fractions of Cayenne Red, Ben’s Reflection took charge in mid-stretch and won by 4-lengths

Dinner Choice ($12.60) added another victory for all-time leading Best of Ohio trainer Miguel Feliciano by gamely defeating wagering favorite Acts Like a King in the final strides of the $60,000 Juvenile Stakes.

The $60,000 John W. Galbreath Memorial kicked off the Best of Ohio festivities with longshot Cryptoville ($33.00) wearing down favorite Lillians Choice in the final 40 yards.

Winings Win Winner Lives Up To Name at Beulah

Michael Winings’ Winings Win Winner stalked the early pace before taking charge to win the featured race on Friday. Eight Ohio-bred allowance runners battled as Whitmark sped away to a big early lead. Racing through the lane Whitmark began to weaken and Winings Win Winner took advantage and drew off to a 3-1/2-length win. The field covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:12 4/5.

Ridden by Ivan Gonzalez for trainer Brent Kelly, Winings Win Winner paid $4.60, $3.20 and $3.00 as the wagering favorite. Slim Kim closed well for second and returned $3.00 and $3.00. Whitmark faded to third and returned his backers $4.60

Royal Showing By 'Queen' In Beulah Park Feature

Barbara G. Johnson’s S R Queenforaday made her first start over the Beulah oval a triumphed one by winning the Thursday feature. Eight Ohio-bred fillies and mares squared off as Sherunsit, Touch of Ivy, Some Nerve and S R Queenforaday clashed for the early lead. Moving through the turn S R Queenforaday took charge and drew away to an impressive 10-1/4-length victory. The running time for the six furlongs over the fast track was 1:13.

Piloted by Marco Ccamaque for trainer William D. Cowans, S R Queenforaday returned $9.00, $4.40 and $3.00. Annie’s Award stalked the leader then rallied for second to pay $5.20 and $3.20. Noble Kitty closed well for third and has a show payoff of $3.40.

Better Road Equals Smooth Sailing In Feature

My Way Stables’ Better Road stalked fast fractions before taking command to win Leg one of the Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series at Beulah Park on Wednesday. Eight competitors dueled as Merryhadalilwolf and Dakota Diamonds battled thorough a wickedly fast pace. Turning for home, Better Road swept pass the leaders and drew off to a 5-length victory. The running time for the 1 1/8 Miles over the fast track was 1:55.

The Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series is a set of five races contested during the fall meet. Each race extends in distance from 1 1/8 miles to the 2 mile finale on December 20. 2005. Leg two will take place on October 18 at the distance of 1 ¼ miles.

Ridden by Paul Melancon for trainer Rinzy Nocero, Better Road returned $5.20, $3.20 and $3.00 as the wagering favorite. Highland Spy was no match for the winner and settled for second. He paid $6.40 and $3.60. Oreo Hunter closed well for third and had a payoff of $4.40.

Oughttobecashedout Rings Up
Victory in $12,400 Buckeye Futurity
September 24, 2005

Owner-trainer Neil Schnecker’s Oughttobecashedout broke sharply and dug in gamely to win the $12,400 Buckeye Futurity at Beulah Park on Saturday. Eleven 2-year-old quarter horses dashed over the muddy track with Oughttobecashedout prevailing in the end. The running time for the 350 yards was 18.516 seconds.

Ridden by Joddie Lee Fortner, Oughttobecashedout paid $34.40, $15.00 and $9.00 as the upset winner. Striking Dream Bug closes well for second and returned $22.40 and $13.00. Bobby Boushay faded to third and had a show payoff of $7.20
