History Recorded at Beulah Park with Largest United States Payout
March 21, 2006
GROVE CITY, OH –
The Fortune 6 at Beulah Park paid $179,072.40 Tuesday for the largest payout
in United States history for a wager less than a dollar. The previous mark
of $83,141.70 was set by a
Fortune 6 winner February 18 of this
year.
This is a new wager in the United States introduced at Beulah Park on
January 14, 2006. To pull down the ticket pool there must be one unique
winner with all six winning horses. The lone ticket through a wagering hub
in Maryland traced back to Oaklawn Park and had horses 5-7-8-4-4-10 in races
three through eight.
The Fortune 6 starts again with a $10,000 Jackpot on Wednesday with race
three, sponsored by WinTicket.com.
Tuesday’s fifth race honored veteran jockey, outrider and Beulah Park
personality Paul Ward. Ward passed away on this date last year after
spending nearly 50 years in horseracing. He was 70 years old. His legendary
yellow horse, Gotta Speed, led the post parade.
Live racing returns to Beulah Park on Wednesday with nine live races and
shifts to four race days each week, eliminating Friday cards. First post
time is 1:15 p.m.

Polish Fantasy takes a nip at the guest of honor Gotta Speed Tuesday at Beulah Park.
Gotta
Speed led the post parade in the 5th race in honor of legendary jockey and
outrider Paul Ward
who passed away on this day in 2005. Polish Fantasy won the 6 furlong maiden
race.

The quarter bet is based
on a Pick 6 wager and will pay the major pool amount only on a unique ticket
of Pick 6 winners with the following basics of the bet.
- The Fortune 6 is a
Pick 6 quarter bet to pick the winners of six consecutive races.
- The winner claims
the entire pool with One Unique 25-cent Winning Ticket of winners in all
six races.
- There will be a 60%
carryover combined with wagers on the next card with no unique winners.
- On days there are
multiple Fortune 6 winners, 40% of the pool is shared equally among
those who have the most winners on the tickets.
- Players receive a
refund for horses on the ticket that are late scratches.
